ALTERCATION AT THE LUXOR FRIGHTENS PATRONS
... Visitors to the Luxor Hotel Casino yesterday got a little more excitement than they bargained for, as shots rang out from the security wing and the facility was "locked down" for almost an hour. Luxor Security Director Andrea Johnson reported that an unknown female intruder burst into the security wing yesterday at about 4:30 p.m., assaulted several staff members (injuring five with an unknown weapon, including Johnson herself), evaded security personnel, and escaped into the casino area, before somehow making a daring escape, literally between the outstretched fingertips of waiting security guards at the lobby doors. "She had some kind of chemical on her hands," said Johnson "and she burned me and several of my men before she got away." Luxor patrons were frightened by the sound of gunfire from the security wing as the altercation occurred. Johnson defended the actions of her staff, noting that "those men were defending themselves. They had already seen three of our security staffers get taken down by this maniac, and I fully support their use of their weapons. No one discharged a weapon outside our hardened security wing. No shots were fired in or in the direction of the casino. No Luxor guest was endangered by my men." Luxor management had no comment on the attacks, and Las Vegas police and PTA officers indicated the are working with the Luxor security staff and reviewing security videos to attempt to determine the identity of the assailant...
From the Pittsburgh Press:
POLICE SEARCH MOUNT WASHINGTON AREA FOR HIDEOUT
...Police spent the afternoon searching the Mount Washington area, apparently in search of the rumored hideout of the supervillains known as AM and FM. Citizens had reported to the police numerous sightings of the alleged bank robbers in that area, and Police detectives were spotted yesterday interviewing residents, searching homes, alleyways and businesses, and generally conducting a thorough analysis of the area, in an apparent attempt to find the entrance to a secret lair. Detective Penelope Wilson told the Press "we know they have some kind of lair. Frequency Man let that slip to us under interrogation. He refused to tell us where it is, but we believe we know the general area. It's just a matter of time until we find the entrance. Then we call in the PTA to clear the place out." Despite having officers in the area almost all day, by nightfall the police had apparently failed to locate what they were looking for...
From the New York Times:
MISSING SCIENTIST'S REMAINS DISCOVERED
... The body of missing scientist Kincaid Miller was discovered by city sanitation workers yesterday in a dumpster on an alley off 85th Street. The remains, apparently placed there sometime the night before, showed that the victim had been beaten, and shot once in the back of the head. Forensics tests have not yet been conducted to determine the specifics of the assault, but police have opened a full scale investigation into the death of the Nobel Prize winner. As reported earlier, Miller had been scheduled to speak at a conference in Houston, Texas last week, but never boarded his plane. Miller's death is a blow to the scientific community, as he was a leader in research on Quantum mechanics. In a possibly related matter, Miller's research assistant at New York University reported to police yesterday afternoon that Miller's office had been broken into and some research materials stolen. Police have not commented yet on whether the events are related, or whether they are operating under any theories as to motive...

Shaking her head, Gale wonders if there any connections between the death of Miller, the missing Hollis, and the planes going down in Kansas and Oklahoma...and if so, what they might be....

Reading the article on the break-in at the Luxor Hotel, Gale shudders.
"Chemical burns? There's someone out there who can chemically burn someone by touching them? Yikes! Man, glad that wasn't me there..."
