Chicago Sun-Times:
MORE CHAOS AS A RESULT OF PARAHUMAN ACTIVITY
...The city of Chicago was once again this afternoon bathed in chaos as so-called parahumans battled each other and the PTA at the Fisher building. At around lunchtime police were tipped off to the whereabouts of a super powered vandal and thief known as "the Guzzler," who has terrorized local gas stations for many months. On the PTA's arrival at his hideout atop the Meyer building on Washington Street, the Guzzler used his super jumping ability to elude capture. Nevertheless, heroic PTA squad members risked life and limb in a daring helicopter chase, and eventually were able to administer a neural stunner, preventing further jumping by the villain. After the team maneuvered Guzzler into taking shelter in the nearby Fisher building, PTA troops were suddenly and viciously attacked by three more parahuman attackers attempting to rescue the Guzzler. The new attackers called themselves the "Wrecking Crew." It is suspected that these were the very same villains police and PTA officers have been searching for in connection with a recent series of vandalism/mayhem incidents, robberies, and even a murder. They engaged PTA officers and injured three (none seriously) before officers were able to subdue the situation. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the chaos. According to bystander reports, midway through the slug-fest between the PTA and the Wrecking crew, another set of parahumans burst forth from the Fisher building (apparently they had entered earlier, disguised as the Mayor and two unidentified companions), and entered the fray. One of the newcomers was none other than the Green Lantern suspected of involvement in a damage incident several nights ago on Randolph street. He flew Guzzler away from the battle scene and made good their escape, while his two companions, one still masquerading as the Mayor, and one dressed in a questionable schoolgirl outfit, battled both the Wrecking Crew and the PTA for several moments, then made their own escape. The identity of these two new parahumans remains unknown, as do their motives. The PTA seems to have its hands full these days, with parahuman battles erupting almost hourly. The Mayor announced shortly after the battle that he is convening a special commission to investigate the rise in parahuman activities and determine what should be done to deal with the negative consequences...
NEW YORK TIMES:
NOBEL AWARD WINNER MISSING, FEARED DEAD

...Nobel Prize winning scientist and researcher Kincaid Miller, head of the school of physics and advanced quantum study at the University of New York has been reported missing by his wife, after he failed to arrive at a conference in Houston, Texas, at which he had been scheduled as the keynote speaker. Miller, 50 years of age, was awarded the Nobel Prize for physical science in 2009, for his work in quantum particle research, which led to a greater understanding of quantum energy fields and their impact on the physical world. Miller's fellow quantum scientist and former research partner, Norman Maddox, now working in the private sector, commented that "the entire scientific community is shocked at Kincaid's disappearance. His work led to some of the basic building block theories that gave the rest of us a leg up on all manner of current research. If Kincaid is not able to continue his work, it would be devastating to our field of study, and to the world." Authorities have no leads yet as to the possible whereabouts of Mr. Miller, who was apparently scheduled for a flight from New York to Houston this past monday, but never boarded the aircraft. Police are attempting to reconstruct the route Miller likely took from his home to the airport, but have discovered no clues as to Mr. Miller's whereabouts, or fate. His wife of 28 years tells reporters that Miller has never failed to appear for an appointment, and never failed to call her every day for their entire marriage. She fears the worst, and has appealed to the public for any possible information as to his whereabouts...

PTA APPREHENDS FREQUENCY MAN, ANTENNA MAN STILL AT LARGE
...After a dramatic shootout and battle on Mount Washington last evening, local PTA officers apprehended one of the duo of local supervillains suspected of committing the recent series of bank and armored car robberies, which have netted over 22 million dollars. Authorities report that at approximately 8:30 p.m. last evening, after monitoring the routes of numerous armored cars, PTA agents were able to spring a trap on the AM/FM duo of villains, catching them in the act of attempting another daring armored car robbery. Equipped with force field generators and energy nets, as well as neural stunners, the PTA was able to bring down the villain known as "Frequency Man," although his counterpart was able to escape. Police say Frequency Man will be charged with robbery, attempted murder, resisting arrest, assault with a deadly weapon, and numerous other charges. A full scale manhunt for Antenna Man is ongoing...
